We are Alter Ego, a dance company with a studio based in Hertfordshire. Each year we run “The Unified Dance Showcase”. This year we would like to offer you the opportunity to become involved in this high-profile event- a truly Iconic Dance Showcase.  “Unified” has been showcasing dance companies for almost 5 years to bring together the UK dance community from the age of three upwards to professional groups. The 2011 event marks the fifth year of Unified Showcase and will take place on12th and 13th August at the Campus West Theatre in Welwyn Garden City- a venue that has seen many Unified productions. Our Dance company- which consists of juniors, varsity, adult and contemporary Crews/Companies- have been selected to participate along with other crews from all over the UK to unite under one roof for a  two-night Dance extravaganza.

Why is Unified Different?  What does it mean to us?

"A Show to Unify the Dance Community...."
The idea for Unified was inspired by a London dance event called 'Stylefest', where discussion forums amongst dancers highlighted the need for the dance community to pull together and support each other rather than promoting the atmosphere of rivalry that seems common place between dance companies and schools. Brendon Hansford from Alter Ego Dance, felt that this was an issue that hit very close to home and decided to create a dance showcase with the intention to unify the dance community. Little did we know that a movement was being created which was fuelled by a collective belief in our motto "Don't talk about them, Talk to them". He holds a strong belief is that this simple strategy can avoid the unnecessary conflict caused by hearsay, rumours and gossip, helping companies and schools to communicate and work together.
By putting on this show we were initially hoping to build bridges with other companies and help others to do the same, helping towards developing a strong dance community who support each other.
Since the very first show we feel that this has helped us build old broken relationships and create some amazing new connections with dance groups and schools. It has done the same for many other groups.
